Political satire for human rights and peace – Foundation for Alternative Mediah

This project uses satire as a means to help people to look at themselves in relation to local issues. It aims to convey the idea that human rights and peace are two of the most important issues in Sri Lanka and that without human rights there can be no solution to local problems or issues.
The programme takes the form of a mobile theatre, which travels from site to site and enacts these satirical plays.
To inform the public of the program, costumed actors stop at wayside shops and gathering places of people, commence a dialogue and explain the evening’s programme.

Plans are afoot to hold follow-up drama workshops for five villages at a time. This ensures that the dialogue in the area continues while at the same time it provides the community with a new source of entertainment.
